Why see a Homeopath?

Often women will come to see me in my practice because they have been struggling to conceive and for some may be experiencing miscarriages and are looking for natural alternative to hormone therapy.

Some women may still be going through IVF or have gone through this process and are feeling disheartened if they haven't been successful, they may turn to homeopathy as a last resort.

Most commonly, I see women because they are beginning to think about having a baby and are looking at natural ways they can support their body into being as healthy as possible.

Either way, I don't have a magic solution or protocal that I use on every couple, as I believe that each woman (and couple) are unique in their individual health picture and fertility journey.

I always strive to support a woman in helping her become more in tune with herself and build a deeper connection with her own body, her womb and her personal feelings around becoming a mother.

Emotional support and unconscious blocks

One of the first things I explore with my patients are how they feel towards their own ability to conceieve?

A fertility journey can be one of ups and downs, you may be feeling disappointed, frustrated and experiencing feelings of grief each time your period comes. Sometimes, you can feel a deep sense of being powerless, it's the one thing in life that we have no control over.

It's easy to loose a sense of hope that it will happen and for some women, the longer the time goes on they may start loosing faith in their own ability to conceive. The pressure of trying for a baby can have an impact on your relationship for both partners and you can start to loose the joy and playfulness in sex and creating new life.

These pressures and emotions themselves can act as barrier to fertility, so it is important for me to give support in addressing these emotions alongside any physical issues or hormonal imbalances as they will all be connected at some level.

Joy, playfulness and sponteneity!

Taking the stress out of this journey is one of my main aims, and supporting a new journey for you, one that will help you to reach optimal health and feel more at ease in your own body and relationship to your feminine energy.

Preparing for motherhood can be a beautiful process in itself, and it can also be an opportunity to meet yourself exactly where you are at; to be more compassionate with yourself, to foster a deeper love and acceptance for yourself and your body, depite whether conception is taking place.

It can also be a chance for you to savour the time you have with your partner before a baby comes along (if this is your first), make the most of it just being you two and being able to have time together to be spontaneous.

Healing your nervous system

I invite women to see this journey as an opportunity to be more in their feminine mode (resting, receiving and being) and less in their masculine energy (doing, achieving, action ). It's helpful for the body to be receptive and you can't be receptive when you're rushing around feeling stressed and anxious. This is not just the physical body, but the mind too. Becoming aware if you have got into thinking patterns that are overwhelming or you are constantly obsessing about getting pregnant.

Increasing nurturing self care practices such as investing in some healing body massage, cranial sacral therapy, reflexology, acupuncture, yoga, dance, alongside changing your nurtition to support the body's fertile health will all help towards your body and mind switching from fight/flight/freeze mode to rest, repair, receive mode. These changes in themselves will indirectly help to create a more balanced hormonal cycle and support your overall well-being.

Getting in tune with ovulation

This goes hand in hand with deepening the connection with your body and your body's own rhythms. There are lots of apps that you can have access to that will be able to help you monitor your peak ovulation period, although these can be helpful to begin with, I encourage women to build a deeper trust with their body and becoming more present, aware and grounded in yourself that you start to listen to all the ebbs and flows of your natural energy, your libido, changes in your vaginal discharge around your ovulation time and moods are all big indicators of when you are most fertile.

Why Homeopathy?

Homeopathic remedies can be helpful to support the body to naturally rebalance itself and gently restore your health. It can be a healing journey and process; encouraging the body to unravel patterns and heal.

Homeopathic remedies are made from highly diluted forms of natural substances from the plant. animal and mineral kingdom, there is nothing material in a remedy, it maintains the imprint or energetic information of the substance it has been made from.

When matched to your own symptoms, it will stimulate the body's own self healing mechanism and promote healing on all levels.

To match a remedy to a what a person may need is the job of the Homeopath and takes careful observation and understanding of the person and their nature, therefore many questions are asked within a consultation to obtain this information. A consultation can also be an invitation for you to offload, in a safe and confidential space and feel supported and held through this time in your life.

Homeopathic remedies

Below are some homeopathic remedies and flower essences that I use in my practice that can help to support fertility, only to be prescribed by a qualified homeopath as each remedy is precribed after a full homeopathic health consultation.

Natrum mur - can be helpful for when the woman is experiencing lots of grief or unresolved grief which is rearing its head around the pre menstrual period. Suited to the person who tends to hold on to grudges and bottles up their own emotions, not wanting to let go. They may be prone to constipation, migraines and worse for sunlight. They can veer towards cravings of salt. They can be highly sensitive and often feel triggered by what happens to them in the day such as someone saying something rude or they may feel ashmed if they have over shared too much in a conversation and will keep thinking about it, unable to let it go.

Ignatia - When there has been miscarriages and the woman is finding it difficult to come to terms and accept the reality. She may feel highly emotional and highly strung. There may be a control/perfectionism element somewhere that is manifesting as being very controlling/obsessive around food and body image. The person may be sighing alot and the grief can sometimes express itself in throat issues and a lump sensation when swallowing.

The woman feels like she is going round and around in circles and may express themes of cycles and needing to go home or wanting to find a sense of home in her partnership. Sepia when given if the picture fits, can be a great hormonal balancer.

They may suffer with lots of period pain and breast swelling before their period. They can easily feel overwhelmed with the pressures of life and be prone to worrying about things. Their food cravings can go towards more carby and starchy foods, as these help them feel more grounded and stable (secure).
